Some anti-trans folks scream "Womanhood isn't just a costume you can put on".

The thing is, I'm not. Manhood is a costume I'm taking off.

Pretending to be someone I'm not is literally killing me.

$800 to join a social network?

Okay, technically, you must purchase tokens -- and then pay with those tokens which amounts to... $800?

This is the crypto world's version of decentralized social media.

They don't care that you actually use these services as social media. It's just the ruse for you to give them money.

My 14yo said she believes school should be optional on Fridays and I told her if she could persuade my boss that applies to work as well then I’ll happily speak to her principal in return.

Maybe if we start calling our body parts gun-sounding names like “revulva” or “shooterus” the GOP will stop trying to regulate them.

Another right-wing member of Congress with a (partially) fictional resume. Not as egregious as Santos, but still pretty flagrant.

I'd like to see a foundation fund an organized crowdsourcing of resume checks of every candidate for Congress.

elon musk has figured out the one weird trick for not having to pay the employees you fired: make them sign arbitration agreements, then don't select arbitrators or pay the arbitration firms

"the company is refusing to pay its share of filing fees to the arbitration company... in cases where the arbitration agreement does not specify a particular arbitration firm, Twitter will not agree on selecting an arbitrator, simply ignoring her emails to Twitter’s own lawyers."

Physicist John Tyndall is often credited with discovering the greenhouse effect, which he wrote about in 1859.

But female scientist Eunice Foote published a paper - 3 years earlier - demonstrating how atmospheric water vapor & CO2 affected solar heating. She theorized that heat trapping gases in Earth’s atmosphere warm its #climate.

Tyndall was widely read. And Foote, being a woman, wasn't even permitted to present her own work. climate.gov/news-features/feat #history #science #ClimateChange

Thank goodness the local #CVS reopened the drive through. Between covid and agoraphobia, I hate going inside, but it’s been closed a lot because of short staffing as CVS tried to siphon off all the money they can. Sigh. I dislike being so cynical. But…it’s CVS.

Breaking non-UFO news: The Trump campaign hired a group to look for anomalies in the 2020 election. After looking under every rock and crevice, they concluded that Biden won the election. Their report was not well-received, and the Trump camp had access to it in December— before January 6.

Both are crimes.

Head’s up. The crypto world is trying really hard to pivot decentralized social media.

It’s important for everyone to know that the Fediverse has NOTHING to do with cryptocurrency, or NFTs, or whatever Ponzi scheme the “coin” hucksters have been trying to peddle.

Whenever something gets trendy, that’s when the bottom feeders arrive.

Our for-profit healthcare system is such a failure that it helped grow the anti-vax movement during a pandemic. The profit-motive erodes trust. Not only would universal healthcare be more efficient and lead to better outcomes, but it could also help restore trust.
