There's no position I've taken in my comics that has harmed my career more than opposing the Iraq War did. Mainstream liberals joined with conservatives to support it, and if you were against it, you were an "unserious" peacenik on the outskirts.

Chipping Sparrow.

I chose this photo this morning using a scientific method. Not unlike "pin the tail on the donkey." 😅 Actually, I accidentally opened it with Lightroom and decided "this will do." 🙂

This sparrow looks well fed; I'm guessing it is a frequent visitor to my back yard. I'm amazed at how confidently the little bird sits on a small stem coming off that branch.

If Trump is indicted and by some miracle his supporters begin to abandon him (I know. It’s a stretch!) we must remember they didn’t reject him because they suddenly discovered moral clarity. They will have rejected him because they found someone else who loves racism and cruelty while indulging their hatred even more than Trump does for them.

Another visitor.

Because it's World Sparrow Day, all of the bird photos that I post today will be sparrows.

Here is a male house sparrow, who right now is a very small minority among sparrow in my backyard. You can tell he's a breeding male by the patch of black feathers on his upper chest.

"The House Sparrow was introduced into Brooklyn, New York, in 1851. By 1900 it had spread to the Rocky Mountains. Two more introductions in the early 1870s, in San Francisco and Salt Lake City, aided the bird’s spread throughout the West. My own child, my son, doesn't like the Thin Mint, the American Cookie. That said, as a teen he ate an entire box of the PB sandwich cookies (not just one row, but two!) in a hour, along with a quart of milk, then left another row out and the dog ate it, wrapper and all (found the wrapper while cleaning up the yard, if you know what I mean...).
