Some on the right are so scared of ideas; books; learning, that they’re denying them to school kids.

Remember the magic of books when you were a kid?
How they whisked you away from tough times; opened worlds; were exciting & surprising & precious & personal?
How reading shaped your mind for life?
Some folks are so scared of losing control of their narrative that they’re depriving children of these gifts.

It’s a sin & a sorrow & will impoverish our nation now & in the future.

This is our neighborhood cat, Nacho. We let him stay in the house for about a day during the beginning of the ice storm. He will never overstay his welcome. The neighborhood facebook group has been keeping us posted as to where he is; he has stayed with a different neighbor each day this week.
He is the bougiest of homeless cats, but also the most adorable.

fyi, since many people don't know this exists:
Almost all computer screens made in the last decade support DDC/CI. (The Display Data Channel Command Interface).
You can use it to control stuff like the backlight brightness without fiddling with the awful screen buttons and OSD.

On Linux once you load the ddcci kernel module the screens appear in /sys/class/backlights and can be controlled like a laptop screen.

Last night was the first time I turned the heater on in the barn for the last two winters. The goats haven’t so much as poked their little heads out, and the mercury is plummeting. It’s dropped 10° in the last hour here in northern Connecticut.
Hoping those in even colder conditions stay safe over the next 24 hours!
