I think that's whole point -- to dump the oil when the price is high, then fill it back up again if necessary when the price comes back down again. Sell high, buy low.

Yeah, and the price of gas recently hasn't been this high since... forever. So dumping a million barrels a day onto the market makes total sense.
Also, this was a coordinated release with countries all over the world doing the same thing.
