She caught me staring
again, my mind elsewhere,
at her steeping cup of tea,

the mist of morning rising,
even though I was the one
who set the kettle

who dropped the bag
and absentmindedly
added milk and honey

and it's funny – I do
this routine every day,
for love is what puts me in motion
