At some points during the day it wouldn't load at all. I was wondering if the cable channel(s) were able to broadcast on the cable systems -- if their video signal was getting out at all.

If you can get video on the app, then the video is probably going out to the cable systems also, and the issue is likely just a website issue.
(Yeah, I cut the cord, too.)
A day is a long time to be AWOL for a high-visibility site like that.
