🧵 1/4 Thoughts on the UK 2024 general election
Of course I hope that Labour wins, and that the Tories lose badly, but I am also hoping to see this brought about by some tactical voting that will bring in some Green MPS and Lib Dems where Labour has no chance.
Aside from those purely tactical considerations , it would be good to have Greens in parliament speaking out from the left of Labour on certain issues and the Lib Dems breaking the silence on the EU.

Even though I am happy to see Reform take enough votes away from the Tories to let Labour, Green, or Lib Dem candidates win, I am praying that they fail to win any seat in the Commons. I don't want them given any more opportunities to spout their poisonous rhetoric.
I am particularly hoping to see Farage lose in Clacton. If he does, then maybe the BBC will at last recognise that there is no reason whatsoever to give this man a platform week after week.

If Labour come first, Reform come second (and sit opposite) and the Tories are given a small miniority in the Commons, it may be the best thing that could happen in decades. I feel it will be a MASSIVE wake up call to the political elite as to what could happen at the next general election of labour mess up and don't deliver.
But I do actually agree with you, about their rhetoric.
We have the far right gaining ground across europe and other countries, we need to be very careful

That would be terrible, what are you thinking? That would mean a significant fraction of the English electorate had embraced far-right xenophobic populism, and Reform would be able to sit there stoking hate and offering stupid, dramatic soundbites in answer to all the complex problems left by the Tories while Labour inevitably disappoint the electorate for 5 years by not changing anything. Then fascism. That's how it happens. Fuck that.

A radical Labour administration that prosecutes the tory filth for their shameless use of government money to line the pockets of their chums at a time when the country was on its knees during the Covid crisis, would be welcome

How much that cost the taxpayer in legal fees, surely if they have a good enough majority they can bring in laws to ensure future governments can't do hhis, or if this is the right term, reform the procurement process.

I'm going out on a limb to say the legal costs will be far less than £37B, or whatever portion of the embezzled billions can be clawed back.
As for passing more laws to make crime illegal, what would be the point if you then won't go after the people that break them? And if you would, then we should now.
This is simply a case where a heads-on-pikes level of economic deterrence is appropriate. These bastards claim to believe in economic incentives, right?

Absolutely! The tory bastards who ripped off the UK to the tune of £ billions whilst it was on its knees due to Covid must be made to pay and pay a very, VERY high price indeed for their duplicity!

Can you build some stocks while you are at it, and a contaner for old food, I think it would be far more satisfying to see some of em in the stocks and be able to throw food at them.
