"就在「歐洲足球總會」（UEFA）4月19日公布改革方案，將參加球隊由現時32隊增至36隊的前夕，12支足壇豪門宣布另立門戶，組成「歐洲超級聯賽」（The Super League），為歐洲足球界投下超級震撼彈。
12支創始球隊包括英超「六大豪門」曼城、曼聯、兵工廠、切爾西、利物浦及托登罕熱刺；西甲巴塞隆納、皇家馬德里及馬德里競技；義甲AC米蘭、國際米蘭及尤文圖斯。
據指美國投資圈提供35億歐元資金，協助參與球隊填補疫情帶來的損失以及球隊基礎建設投資。且因未來每年的收益由20支球隊來分，創始球隊將獲更高收益。"

In a forceful appearance before Premier League representatives on Tuesday morning, the U.K.’s Johnson vowed to drop a “legislative bomb” on the effort that threatened to reclassify soccer clubs as protected institutions instead of regular businesses.
The Super League members had been prepared to stomach plenty of abuse—from fans, from rival clubs, from European soccer’s governing body, UEFA. They were even prepared for legal challenges. The project’s law firm, Clifford Chance, had filed a motion in a friendly Madrid court to head off UEFA’s threat to suspend the clubs from European competition. (Clifford Chance declined to comment.)
