How do you see the Engineering Manager role? What have been your challenges when transitioning from IC into Management and what advice would you give to someone that’s going through this process now?

@Otavio oneid I found helpful: First is that you're in the empathy business: listening and understanding is critical to learn what problems need to be solved and support people. Second, you're still programming. Think of the organization as a microservices network with faulty communication and nodes. How can you restructure the network and write a program that will run reliably on it? A great program will let your team run smoothly together and accomplish organization goals and still feel light and agile and free. I'd love to hear how it goes.
