I'm noticing a lot of "I'm bored of Mastodon, I'm going back to #Twitter" posts.

In case they are genuine, here's what I've found works:

⚫ try to post content, not complaints. People want to engage with you, not your gripes

⚫ try to learn. If you're putting in an effort to be part of the community, the community will welcome you

⚫ Try to avoid posting links to tweets, definitely don't cross-post. People want Mastodon content

⚫ Reply! Reply! Reply! Everyone wants to know someone's reading and considering their content, even you

⚫ Don't lurk. Many of us check for a filled out profile, avatars, and posts, before we follow someone back

⚫ Chill. It's a big new world that doesn't serve everything up to you

⚫ Avoid the trap of rebuilding Twitter here

Feel free to link this post to people struggling with Mastodon. It's what I've found works, and may not work for everyone

Authorities say substation damage that has blacked out 40K in North Carolina in cold weather (possibly until late this upcoming week) was done by gunfire. The technical term for this is domestic terrorism.

Gah, I just can't watch these cooking shows Mrs. Volts is always watching. Too emotionally bruising.

We live in a nation where the media gives as much time to a manufactured “controversy” about President Biden serving lobster for the French President as they do to the former president calling to “terminate” the Constitution.

I had hoped not to talk about Matt Taibbi on my radio program at all since he went to the dark side, irrelevant.
But now we'll have to spend the week mocking his lame story.

From now on, journalists should include the descriptor ("who has called for the termination of the US Constitution") whenever Trump is mentioned.

Unfortunately, there is far too much cowardice in the news media.

Too many media outlets are afraid of stating uncomfortable truths, truths that might offend the powerful or the public.

Telling the truth is not always a “neutral” act.

Journalists (and others) should still TELL THE TRUTH.

People who say #ElonMusk's selective disclosure of #Twitter internal docs "breathes new life into the #HunterBiden laptop story" miss the point. That's not the goal.

The goal is to inflate a different right-wing talking point, that "big tech is biased against conservatives". So Musk carries water for right-wingers who want to force tech companies to uncritically rebroadcast their propaganda AND he spins his Twitter acquisition as "essential to save 'free speech'."

That's what this is about.

Anyone still posting on Twitter is actively helping the fascists achieve their goals. Musk is banning leftist accounts and hate speech is up 61%.
