It's December 24th and that means it's time for the ceremonial recitation of the annual vow that we are never ******* doing this ******* **** again. We're just going to go to ******* Hawaii.

My son has been asking a lot of questions this Christmas season, and I'm worried it might be the last year he believes that Bitcoin is real.

Riddler is depressed this . Her preferred afternoon room is off limits for preparations for tomorrow. Only belly rubs will improve her mood. (reposting because of missing alt text.)

Simple example of what I'm talking about...

Last night Ford tweeted about their 2023 Bronco Sport. As of right now, their Tweet has 36.2K views, but the account has 1.4M followers. 2.5% of their audience saw it.

At the same time, Tesla tweeted about their Model Y. As of now, 24.3M views on their tweet, 18.8M followers. 129% of their audience.

If I was an executive at Ford, I would be *pissed* about this.

It's December 23rd. Tonight we will be visited by the Ghost of Past.

@edbott @taylorlorenz For every problem there is a solution. But it would take expending a minimal amount of effort.

I would really like to quote-tweet this, adding my 2 cents and amplifying Taylor's words. But I can't. And that's unfortunate.

@outeast @mekkaokereke 19 people have died in NYC jails this year, none convicted of a crime unless you consider not being able to get cash together a crime. vera.org/news/nyc-jail-deaths-

Firearms and fishing lures and 1960's racism in lure naming.

Here are some pages from the 1966 Herter's catalog. Herter's was a mail order only equivalent of Bass Pro Shops. In fact in 1981 the remnants were bought by Cabela's and is in some small part in the Bass Pro Shops family. For people interested in converting, a 1966 dollar is $9.20 in current dollars.

@glyph Emacs it itself a cry for help, a nostalgic yearning for a simpler time, it is 1985 suckling at the teat of 1978, the abyss gazing into its own CDR, and as the push-down list returns to the sewer, the circle of life is complete.

Trump refused to release his tax records, insisting that he couldn’t because he was under audit. We now know that that automatic, mandatory audit didn’t happen.

Top work. “an eight-month visual investigation by The New York Times concluded that the perpetrators of the [Bucha] massacre along Yablunska Street were Russian paratroopers from the 234th Air Assault Regiment led by Lt. Col. Artyom Gorodilov” nytimes.com/2022/12/22/video/r

To think that "MAGA Haberman" once seemed a tad too far as a nickname.

It's December 22nd, and that means it time for the ceremonial recitation of 'Bah Humbug!'

Bah Humbug!

on the 12th day of Christmas, my true love gave to me:

twelve dwarves & thorin
elevenses & luncheon
ten thousand uruks
nine black riders
ate second breakfast
seven palantíri
six thousand spears
FIVE ISTARI
four hobbitses
three silmarils
two towers
AND ONE RING TO RULE THEM ALL

There's a whole genre of videos that are "White person loses iPhone, accuses closest Black person of stealing it, finds it moments later in their purse or pocket, and either apologizes or doubles down on the racism."

These don't all have happy or funny endings. Many of these stories in NYC, wind up at Rikers.

If the falsely accused Black person takes off running, the lack of iPhone on them is explained as "They threw it while running!"

Staying, remaining calm, and filming, is a safer option.

Biz Stone, co-founder of Twitter and Medium, is now on Mastodon

Welcome @biz!

In April 2020, I observed some unusual activity involving people on Twitter who claimed to be doctors and appeared to be having an outsized influence not only on Twitter discourse related to COVID, but on actual COVID policies. I tweeted about it at the time and got shouted down by people saying I was being disrespectful to the “heroes” of the pandemic (I wasn’t). Well, that story is finally starting to unravel. As it turns out, some of those “doctors” weren’t actually doctors at all. 1/
