The Myth of Drug Expiration Dates

Hospitals and pharmacies are required to toss expired drugs, no matter how expensive or vital. Meanwhile the FDA has long known that many remain safe and potent for years longer. propublica.org/article/the-myt

When deciding whether to keep or throw away an item, ask yourself:

• Have I used it in the last year?
• Do I own another item that serves the same purpose?
• Is it required in the ritual that will stir the Old Ones to unleash their unspeakable wrath upon these pathetic gnats who call themselves humans?
• Does it spark joy?

Just sharing the Utah State Auditor’s web form that people can fill out if they suspect there is a trans person in a public bathroom.

I would never suggest anyone submit false information to a government agency that is implementing a transphobic law, of course.

NONE of this campus shit is about antisemitism. NONE OF IT.

I cannot overstate how dangerous to free speech and a healthy democracy it is to redefine all anti-Zionism and criticism of the state of Israel as antisemitism. You know who's loudly critical of Zionism and the Israeli govt? Jews. A lot of Jews.

The broken source code for MS-DOS 4.0 has been restored!

In less than a week, on April 30, 2024, the community provided all necessary patches to restore the source code to its original state, matching the 1988 release of MS-DOS 4.00.

LA Times reports that last night, hundreds of anti-Palestine protestors violently attacked pro-Palestine peaceful protestors.

Amazing how there was immediate law enforcement to stop peaceful protestors but nowhere near that speed to stop these violent extremists.🤔

@whoosh

I'll go even more radical on this.

Don't slaughter defenseless trapped people.

The rule is Don't slaughter innocent defenseless trapped populations.

It's not a political statement.

I want to ask college administrators: When you look back at the history of protest in the United States, is "rules must be enforced at all cost" really the lesson you take?

Random observation: Photos I'm seeing today of American riot cops show them carrying straight-handle batons instead of the side-handle batons that have been more common.

Side-handle batons were adopted because they afforded ways of subduing suspects with reduced force. Also, side handles don't provide as much striking leverage, so are less likely to seriously injure people by striking.

Cops shifting back to straight batons could signal acknowledgement that their main goal is to hurt people.

Via Emptywheel:

Ric Grenell worked for a guy who ran a literally fraudulent university.

And he's claiming that Ivy League grads are the ones who can't get jobs?

Richard Grenell:

Congress needs to go after University endowments.

Those pots of money should be paying for student loan forgiveness - after all, they trained students who can’t find good jobs.

This May Day the cops are really working overtime to demonstrate why they should never be considered workers or part of the labor movement

If you are a college administrator, and you cannot handle student protests during the last few weeks of classes before summer break, it's time to find a new job.

Seriously, that's not a failure, it's a damned moral collapse, a complete abdication of all responsibility to your students.

It's especially sad to see it happen at Columbia, which used to have a good journalism school. It won't after this, that's what happens when you choose the governor over your students.

Telling that CNN is having ex-mayors and ex-police on to speculate about what protesters are thinking as the police crack down.

Never, ever someone with actual experience protesting.

For-profit healthcare systems KILL. FIGHT like hell for your public healthcare. — An American

There's an anti-abortion ploy going on in #Missouri and other states right now.

They're trying to keep people from signing petitions to get abortion on the election ballot in Nov!

From Jessica Valenti, #abortion advocate:

Missouri anti-abortion groups are tricking voters out of signing a pro-choice petition by claiming it's a ruse to steal their private data

They're sending texts that say “protect yourself from fraud and theft” & “don’t share your personal data with strangers"

@DJDarren The Verge did a documentary on this a while ago. I guarantee you will be very angry by the end of it.

Basically, back in the 1980s, there was a company called Sun Remarketing that built a business buying unsold Apple computers, refurbishing then, and supporting them.

They even went so far as to create new operating systems and upgrades for them.

Lots of people couldn't afford the latest Mac, but we're happy to buy last year's model.

Using a range of underhanded legal tactics, Apple deliberately put them out of business, resulting in thousands of working computers being deliberately dumped in a landfill.
