Anyone know of a privacy friendly alternative to Kindle?
I was just going to buy one, never register and keep it on airplane mode then sideload books via calibre from my pc but after reading this article I don’t want to run the risk of having all my data still being stored & then sent when i forget to keep airplane mode off

@STORM I'm looking at the Kobo, good for taking notes and uses PDFs well, but no direct experience yet kobo.com/

@buddha_314 @STORM I actually just replaced my Kindle with a Kobo Libra 2. I love the reader, but they also sell your info to third parties & affiliates. *sad face*

@orci @STORM ACK! We can't win! At least it's not Bezos getting rich, I suppose. And you can buy books from indie e-book stores.

@buddha_314 @STORM Totally. That's why I switched to Kobo. I hate the Amazon stranglehold on e-publishing.

@orci @STORM Boox looks really good, but they're very expensive. I want the 10" so I can read journal articles easier boox.com/

@STORM @orci right? the 10" is like $900. And the first book I want to buy on it is $140, so that's a lot of explainin' to do, Lucy.
