So, you're having a small inauguration but yet you need 25,000 troops? something doesn't add up

“Our National Guard soldiers and airmen are set around the city to protect our nation’s Capital.” The @USArmy confirmed that as many as 25,000 @Nat...

@SmilingTexan What is not adding up? I'm sure you are aware of the events at the Capitol last week. I'm guessing they do not want a repeat of many armed, violent, and misinformed people coming shockingly close to laying their hands on elected officials with the intent of doing harm.

@bolapara I get that, still seems to be a bit over-kill.

@SmilingTexan I think they've blocked off a pretty large perimeter around the Whitehouse and then a separate perimeter around the Capitol building itself. I could see how it could take that many to secure such a large area.

@bolapara I've never been there, I guess I don't realize how big of an area it is. I hope to one day visit.

That said, on one hand they don't expect many at the inauguration, but on the other hand they expect a large protest. Kinda says that more people oppose the new president than are for him.

@SmilingTexan We visited a couple years ago and was surprised at how big and spread apart everything was. Had a great time though, even though it wasn't as kid friendly as we had hoped.

I believe the inauguration is purposefully being kept small because of the pandemic. I don't agree on your assessment that more oppose than support the new President. That is what elections are for and Biden pretty clearly won it.
