There is an underlying sentiment in the comment section to this article that today's college students have "gone soft," "are addicted to their smartphones" and don't value hard work. I have serious problems with this view...

Fellow college faculty, have you found this with your students? I do think there is a focus issue, but I can't really blame students for that after what they've been through.

I’m a GenXer, and this was the constant refrain from old people. I guess that’s what happens when you grow up and get a lawn to defend.
