Have you ever seen an oak tree dance?
Britain is full of 'lost' rainforests, predominantly in the southwest and northwest of England, west Wales and the west coast of Scotland. There are other areas where the conditions are perfect too, like this one in the Peak District National Park.
When the rain starts and the cloud base drops into the rainforest, the trees come alive. Everywhere you look, there is magic and mystery.

Social media can be dangerous for democracy. I dumped Facebook in 2016 because I watched it, in real time, turn perfectly reasonable "friends" in to angry old cranks. Twitter is a great platform but it's fallen into the creepy hands of a grown man that acts like a trust fund teenager that just read Ayn Rand.
I'm personally finding I'm able to reconstruct in Mastedon a decent level of content curation that is as good as Twitter. And it's actually nice to start over now that I better understand what this medium is used for. I'm doing my part to fight fascism by voting with my feet. For the sake of democracy and lack of need, I am now Facebook and Twitter free. Invite everyone you know to use their free will.

In retrospect, these two tweets may have been Elon's most visionary.
@joshtpm Yes! The optimist in me wants to believe that the internet is not a cesspool, but if used correctly can lead to, as you say, "a deeper understanding we might not get from formal journalism". The internet and social media have turned everything loud, snarky and sloppy and we just need better tools to drown out the schlock.
So it's been rumored and I can see how he could be working with Jack Dorsey on Bluesky. Bluesky really just seems like another Mastadon to me. Maybe that's why Musk called Mastodon out?

@mollyjongfast I dumped Facebook when it started to become exceptionally toxic in 2016. Found a well curated Twitter feed after Russian invasion #3 in February and I was kind of hooked. Glad to see the smart one's that are serious about "free speech" are slowly moving here.
