Why is it that when a journalist asks a Democrat to comment about routine Republican bigotry, they reflexively pearl clutch and express “disappointment” and “surprise”?
Seriously? You’re disappointed and surprised a Republican is a bigot? Puhleeze! How about responding to these questions by saying: “Yeah, I’m not surprised at the bigotry. This is how the party has been operating for decades. Bigotry appeals to a minority of Americans and, sadly, it wins elections... if it ain’t broke...”

Couldn’t they have just told the writers to eat cake?
Interesting...but they forgot to mention that a member of the Alaskan Independence Party also “is likely beyond getting laid.”
To paraphrase John Lennon “but if you go carryin’ pictures of Donald Trump, you ain’t gonna find anybody that wants to hump”.
A good read. Key bit:
"Obviously, the social networking space is undergoing a major shakeup. Twitter under Elon Musk’s chaotic reign has seemingly created an opportunity for an alternative microblogging service. With #Threads and #Mastodon both embracing ActivityPub, it might not be one platform that wins out—but an open standard. "
Grievance, rage and religion be a helluva drug. For decades the drug’s been peddled to conservative America with fantastic electoral effect. In fact, you can draw a through line of the dealers from George Wallace to Jerry Falwell and Rush Limbaugh to the Fox “news”. Like any drug, overuse creates tolerance until the user does enough to kill themselves.
Right now, we are at the stage where we are watching the conservaddict pissing himself and screaming at the fire hydrant. Sad.
I wish I could remember all that weird shit I’m pretty sure I dreamed.
that’s a shame.
just another Republican virtue signaling about “personal responsibility”.
Last supper indeed!
What if it turns out that the movement of time is the actual presupposition?
Remember how the term “cultural relativism” became the right wing meme in league with “political correctness”and “critical race theory”? Cultural relativism was the nonstop Rush Limbaugh complaint for a good six months or so. That was the bullshit right wing meme that set the table for bothsiderism.
personally, I think it was because his dinner parties were a little depressing.
Yes the constant meta (and Meta) discussion here is tedious, and often much worse, but one thing you have to realize is that this is not just a social network, it’s a left/progressive political project. And I don’t know how many left/progressive political orgs you’ve been involved in, but let me tell you, they are kind of known for endless, agonizing talk about process, factions, outside threats, strategy, grievances, etc. If you have a solution for that, you just might save the world.
this number is about as surprising as the likely fact that 70 million people probably clicked on a cute kitty cat video on Facebook.
I guess it will be futile, at this point, to mention Elon Musk’s commitment to China’s “core socialist values”.
