when I first saw this, I thought it might be about the Covid relief funding. We did have some inflation, but the relief funds seemed to have had a similar effect.

Not the best question for a privileged white guy, but I’ve had unpleasant encounters with police and they can be complete dickheads. No argument there.

Let me bring my point to your doorstep. When was the last time YOU had a purely social interaction with someone employed in law-enforcement? Did you have a beer? Did you get lunch? Did you watch your kids play soccer together?

Consumer social media lives and dies on clickbait. Reactions are clicks and clicks are $$$. I think the last decade of social media induced cultural engineering has created a society full of vapid, self-centered reactionaries.

I’ve never met Eric Adams, but given reporting on him, your opinions and mine are in alignment. However, I’m always suspicious of arguments stating that “All (insert sub-group, culture, religion, etc) are (insert pejorative)”. I try to base my opinions on my experiences and I have known people in law enforcement that are committed to their jobs (see J6 Capitol Police). That’s all I’m saying.

I don’t wanna agree or disagree about this and I’m not flaming or kvetching. I only wonder how many people on this thread actually know someone in law-enforcement. I won’t argue that there are not racists and bad actors in law enforcement. However, believe it or not, there are people that not only want to protect and defend the constitution, but they want to protect and serve. Just like in the military.

I have mixed emotions about union workers losing their jobs making AR 15s. For me the most important thing is the Bushmaster was sued out of existence because of Sandy Hook. 

Looks like the human buzz saw business model didn’t work out so well.

It doesn’t take a genius to know that the newspaper industry was destroyed by the move of advertising to the Internet. Advertising is what makes the Internet go. Including TwitteX. 

I’m watching CNBC and coverage of the release of the Tesla Cyber truck. For me, the truck’s unremarkable. What’s remarkable, though, is the way the commentators are gushing, not over the truck, but over an unremarkable racist like Musk.

Why are they calling the poo flinging monkey show between the IDF and Hamas a “war” when it seems like the only people dying are civilians?

It’s all fine as well to thank a veteran for their “service to the country”. But when was the last time you thanked an accountant in your local government for stewarding your tax dollars? When was the last time you thanked a teacher for creating a future American? When is the last time you thanked the guy that’s paving the road you drive on every day? Those folks spend their entire lives serving their country and, quite frankly, they are ignored. They all serve. Their contributions are many.
