Of course, you know the difference between a pizza and a drummer?

Pizza can feed a family of four.

Elon Musk only bans Black nazis. The rest are fine with him.

the birdsite and me

Legit question: When is it finally time to walk away, no matter what it says about "ceding ground." Because if the Daily Stormer aint it what is? If you're still there (I am) whats the line? Asking for real. mediaite.com/online/elon-musk-

I love it in here. There's currently a hashtag named #thicktrunktuesday that is basically pics of massive, beautiful trees.
I humbly submit El Tule, an incredible ahuehuete from the state I was born, Oaxaca. It's over 2000 years old. "Tule" means "Tree of Enlightment" #Oaxaca #Mexico #ElTule It has the thickest trunk in the world.

Every December eve I post this piece of Housman, and every year it moves me all the more. The unexpectedness of ‘Prompt hand and headpiece clever’; the ‘winterfalls of old’. And maybe, just maybe, the ordering of the poem (‘XX’) also stands for two kisses?

It's terrifying that a comedy show has to be the vehicle to shine a light on the very undemocratic forces that are threatening the country right now.

Saw the movie "Tar" and this was in it briefly. Always have liked this one.

As right-wing extremists are re-platformed everywhere from Twitter to Mar-a-Lago, it’s more important than ever that we hold our journalists, researchers, & others to high standards of accountability when it comes to reporting on extremism and extremists. We need journalists who will tell us the truth, not stake out a position in the middle of two unequal sides. I keep coming back to this quote about reporting on the weather, but it was missing something — so I modified it to make it complete.

In the spirit of wanting more irreverent content on this platform, and speaking of predatory journals, today I was invited to contribute to a volume on new applications of aspirin.

My invitation came on the strength of a letter I wrote with Brian Wasik and Rich Lenski in Brit. J. Clin. Pharma. in which we noted that Scorsese had been misidentified as Kissinger in a previous report about misidentifications.

Anyway, the letter and my reponse.

Maybe a better question for Mitch McConnell would be to ask why it is that Kanye would want to bring Nick Fuentes to meet the man that is not only running for president but is, in fact, the head of the Republican Party? /2

It's great that Mitch McConnell is condemning racism and blah, blah, blah. For me, a more fundamental question that needs to be addressed would be, why do bigoted people seem to be attracted to the Republican Party? /1

Having now been on #Mastodon for 1 month, a few observations:

- Mastodon makes me realize how much the #Twitter algorithm maximized user outrage to boost engagement for profit. Gross. Here, my feed is interesting & supportive.

- There's a culture of kindness - at least so far. It's extremely appealing & should be normalized on & offline.

- Beyond reactions to toots, people share songs, poetry & ask great questions. I can't remember the last time I found social media to be fun.

I'm not sure where to start. Does anyone have a list of elected officials on Mastodon? If there are none, shouldn't we be demanding it?

I feel really bad for Mr. Thiel. Maybe he should try his rich, billionaire hand at buying a large media company. Seems to be all the rage with smart, anti-woke types.

Ben Shapiro made the mistake of voting for the Leopards Eating Faces Party and is now surprised the leopards are eating his face with a side of antisemitism.

I asked Jay Garfield about this and he was rather dubious!

Worth mentioning too: Pyrrho, the skeptic. Went to India with Alexander, met with yogis. His skeptical school got revived by folks like Cornelius Agrippa, to form the foundation of the scientific revolution. So that is Buddhism as a deep root of science.
