A good read. Key bit:

"Obviously, the social networking space is undergoing a major shakeup. Twitter under Elon Musk’s chaotic reign has seemingly created an opportunity for an alternative microblogging service. With #Threads and #Mastodon both embracing ActivityPub, it might not be one platform that wins out—but an open standard. "

Grievance, rage and religion be a helluva drug. For decades the drug’s been peddled to conservative America with fantastic electoral effect. In fact, you can draw a through line of the dealers from George Wallace to Jerry Falwell and Rush Limbaugh to the Fox “news”. Like any drug, overuse creates tolerance until the user does enough to kill themselves.

Right now, we are at the stage where we are watching the conservaddict pissing himself and screaming at the fire hydrant. Sad.

Some of the women in “today’s GOP” declaring war on the “Barbie” movie. I do believe irony is dead.

Yes the constant meta (and Meta) discussion here is tedious, and often much worse, but one thing you have to realize is that this is not just a social network, it’s a left/progressive political project. And I don’t know how many left/progressive political orgs you’ve been involved in, but let me tell you, they are kind of known for endless, agonizing talk about process, factions, outside threats, strategy, grievances, etc. If you have a solution for that, you just might save the world.

Participants in American democracy sold their internet town square out to Twitter. Now they’re complaining about it falling apart and the detrimental effect on democracy?

In the immortal words of Colin Powell...”you broke it, you own it”.

Trump, as with the entire right, complain nonstop about “CNN, MSNBC, and the liberal media bias”.

That liberals are RADIO SILENT about Fox and the $1B Dominion settlement, which is an ACTUAL, REAL LIVE EXAMPLE OF MEDIA BIAS is as frustrating as my inability to touch my toes due to my big beer belly.

Volunteering to adopt new users who are lost or confused. Meaning I’ll recommend people to follow, and answer questions. I’ll delete this when I’ve reached my capacity, but feel free to boost or copy paste to your own accounts.

Justice Roberts said:

“Nothing in this opinion should be construed as prohibiting universities from considering an applicant’s discussion of how race affected his or her life, be it through discrimination, inspiration, or otherwise...”

So make EVERY application to a public university REQUIRE prospective students to write an essay on the way race has affected their life. EVERY student. All essays should be weighed equally to aid in determining their admission. Problem solved.

Fine. If you license your business with the state and you don’t want to serve the LGBTQ community then you will be REQUIRED to EXPLICITLY state that you do not serve homosexuals. All of your advertising and storefront operations should reflect your deeply held beliefs.

Does this mean the KKK can't use race to determine membership eligibility?

#BlackFriday #BlackJoy #BlackMastodon #BlackTwitter #LGBTQ The prompt from @BigAngBlack this week was to post on an LGBTQ+ icon. Picking just one was tough but I ended up having to go with the incredibly gifted choreographer and dancer Alvin Ailey. Even today I can find myself watching something he choreographed and not realizing I am holding my breathe. I found a 7 min doc that gives the essential bits about him.

If the Donald can’t find a lawyer, how’s he going to find a VP?

Those classified documents don’t care about your feelings.

Jesus saves! But will he have enough for retirement?

My teevee media diet is making me anorexic.

After binge rounds of Iron Chef and Man vs Food I turn the channel to MSNBC or CNN and, upon watching drone footage and sky cams one & two follow Donald Trump from Bedminster to the airport for his return to Mar-a-Lago and tomorrows arraignment...I evacuate the contents of my tummy on the kitchen floor. 🤮😒

Does my mocking your silly religious beliefs constitute me “canceling” you?

I used to be a pedal to the metal proponent of artificial intelligence. But now that prominent scientists and journalists have proclaimed that it will destroy humanity, I’m starting to believe we’ll be destroyed by vague predictions about things that are not remotely possible now, and may or may not be possible within 3 years or, ya know, 50 years.

Brings to mind the maxim that extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
