Recently, another's instance admin said some things about homosexuality that I vehemently disagree with. In those words, this admin made it sound like homosexuality was a choice. It was framed in such a way that added to the erasure of lesbians in particular.
It just went through my head today again- the question of 'choice' in sexuality. I know it isn't a choice. It's just something that *is*.
My personal experience that proved all that? My *MASSIVELY* gay friend during my freshman year who admitted to me he wished he liked girls because it make everything so much easier. That he wished he could change. That he'd rather be straight than gay.
It always stuck with me and it always will. Sexuality isn't a choice and to think otherwise is a MASSIVE step backwards in accepting, loving, and understanding the multitudinous conditions of human existence.
