Russia's decision to suspend its participation in the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START) is an attempt to demonstrate the power of its nuclear capabilities and to put political pressure on the United States. It is clear that the accuracy, location, and technical characteristics of nuclear weapons have a greater impact on the potential outcome of a nuclear confrontation than the number of warheads. Russia does not have the resources to maintain its existing strategic aviation aircraft, which are part of the nuclear triad, and is instead donating parts from decommissioned units. It is unlikely that the number of such carriers or the number of nuclear warheads will increase due to the degradation of the Russian military-industrial complex. This statement is intended to raise the morale of the Russian population in support of the current government.
@TheOldGuy
They are rattling the nuclear saber to try and goad the "land for peace" crowd.
When will people learn that trading fascist regimes land for peace results in more invasions, not more peace?
