The Ukrainian Air Force has evaluated the possibility of a large-scale deployment of Russian aircraft and concluded that there will not be hundreds of aircraft involved. Ignat stated that this is not World War II and no one fights like that. He also noted that there are 40 Russian airfields located near the border with Ukraine, and the number of aircraft at these airfields has remained roughly the same since the beginning of the aggression, with any lost equipment being replaced. To counter this, Ukraine has bolstered its air defense with modern Western systems.
