As speech around a national divorce heats up on the right, I am going to suggest that it makes sense for most non-insane Americans to change their viewpoints about America.
Some States are no longer particularly American.
For me, having moved across the country ten years ago to avoid lax gun laws and insane educational policy in a Red State, and (aside,)
having grown up in California and summered in the deep South,
it makes sense for Americans to now view ”America” as being more 1/x
being more like “Europe,” than a single country.
If you lived in say, Paris, and you want a beach vacation, you may consider visiting the Southern French beaches, or say, Greece, or another Mediterranean country nearby.
But what if Greece, a separate country with different laws, passes a law that allows open carry of weapons on the beaches and in the public square? And half of the population of this (fictional) country hates the French?
You may decide to stay closer to home. 2/x
Some “American States” are not safe for reasonable folks to visit.
That’s where we are.

@tofugolem @kthornton they sure do.
