Today, Ukraine's Deputy Defense Minister Budanov stated that the Russians are refusing to go on the offensive due to the losses they have suffered. He noted that the Russians are trying to conceal the extent of their losses, but the occupying forces are aware of the scale of their losses and are refusing to launch an offensive. He also mentioned that the Russian economy and production are not able to cover the losses they have incurred, and if they do not achieve their goals in the spring, they will run out of resources to wage war. Budanov believes that the Ukrainian military can launch a successful counteroffensive in late spring or early summer, with the help of allies, and that this could lead to a decisive result on the battlefield. General Richard Dannatta, the former Chief of the British General Staff, also shared his opinion, stating that if Ukraine launches a successful counteroffensive and the Russian army collapses, dictator Putin may be expelled from the Kremlin. He believes that the West has not done enough to ensure that the war ends this year, and that Russian generals who are dissatisfied with the development of the war may drive Putin out of the Kremlin.
