The New York Times writes that Russian General Sergei Surovikin, detained after the Wagner PMC mutiny, has been released. He was previously believed to be in custody.
The newspaper's sources say that this happened three days after the plane carrying Yevgeny Prigozhin crashed on August 23. The general allegedly retained his rank, but no longer has "career prospects" in the army.
Ksenia Sobchak wrote about Surovikin's release yesterday, posting a photo of the general with his wife.
◾After Prigozhin's failed mutiny, Western media wrote that Surovikin knew about the preparations for the uprising. At the time, he was the deputy commander of Russian troops in Ukraine, and after the rebellion, he disappeared from the public eye.
