Cynicism and a parody of generosity — the president of the European Council, Charles Michel, criticized Russia's desire to "gift" grain to African countries.
Speaking at the G20 leaders' meeting in India, Michel openly accused the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergey Lavrov.
"What cynicism, Mr. Russian representative, you not only decided to withdraw from the Black Sea Grain Initiative but also attack the port infrastructure. You block the ports that give access to the Black Sea and even to the Danube. And to top it off, Russia offers 1 million tons of grain to African countries as a parody of generosity.
What cynicism and contempt for African countries when we know that the Black Sea Agreement has so far secured over 30 million tonnes of exports, mostly to the most vulnerable countries. And that the alternative routes developed by the EU have already made it possible to export 40 million tons of grain," he said.
@TheOldGuy That’s the colonial pot calling the neocolonial kettle black.
