Zelenskyy spoke with von der Leyen after the European Commission's compromise on Ukrainian grain

"I am deeply grateful to Ursula von der Leyen for keeping her word and the rules of the free market. This is an example of true unity and trust between Ukraine and the EU. Europe always wins when the rules work and the contracts are fulfilled," the president said.

Zelenskyy warned that it is also important to show European unity on a bilateral level.

"If the neighbors' decisions violate EU law, Ukraine will respond in a civilized manner," he added.
