The IDF has not yet regained control of the seven attacked regions on the border with the Gaza Strip. While the fighting continues there, Israeli aircraft have struck 17 military targets and four Hamas headquarters.

The Haaretz newspaper writes that a Palestinian missile strike damaged the country's second largest power plant in the city of Ashkelon. At the same time, the Times of Israel reports that the rocket attack on Israel has been going on for 7.5 hours.

Hamas says it has captured Israeli General Nimrod Aloni in his home near the border. Israel has not officially confirmed this.

Meanwhile, an adviser to Iran's supreme leader congratulated Hamas on its largest attack on Israel in recent years.

So far, more than 550 people have been wounded since the start of the morning attacks. The official death toll is 22, but judging by the numerous videos of civilians being shot, the number of Israelis killed is much higher.
