The Ukrainian Ombudsman
Lubinets reacted to the video showing ruzzian abuse of Ukrainian prisoners of war

Lubinets appealed to the ICRC and the UN to document the fact of abuse as evidence of Russia's violation of international humanitarian law.

Lubinets also called on the world to react to Russia's war crime and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Dmytro Lubinets emphasized that, according to preliminary information, this war crime took place in the Kharkiv direction, where the Russians are currently trying to conduct offensive actions.

The video recorded beatings, humiliation, threats, and an imitation of a shooting.

Unfortunately, such treatment of Ukrainian prisoners of war is not an exception to the rules, but a common tactic for the occupiers, the ombudsman said.

He noted that such actions are a violation of the Geneva Conventions, according to which prisoners of war have the right to humane treatment.

"This case should be recorded as another proof of the violation of international humanitarian law by the Russian Federation! I have sent official letters to the ICRC and the UN to document the fact of abuse. This will be another addition to the evidence base for the future criminal tribunal," Lubinets explained.
