99-year-old British World War II veteran tried to send russian medal back because of russia's invasion of Ukraine

Alec Penstone received the Ushakov Medal, russia's highest naval award, for his service in the Arctic convoy on the aircraft carrier H.M.S. Campania. A total of 19 British veterans received these awards - the ceremony took place on May 9, 2014.

"I would have loved to return [the medal], but they prevented me from doing so. An award for courage signed by Putin. I am disgusted and disappointed," Penstone told The Telegraph.
