russia began sending 70-year-old howitzers to the front en masse

The russian military removed hundreds of M-46 howitzers from the 1950s from warehouses to make up for the shortage of artillery pieces, according to an analysis of the OSINT project Highmarsed, cited by Forbes. The massive use of these guns will make russia even more dependent on supplies of shells from North Korea and Iran, since 130-mm ammunition for the M-46 is produced only by enterprises in these countries.
