Ukrainian journalist Viktoria Roshchina has died while being transferred to Moscow

This information was shared by Ukrainian MP Yaroslav Yurchyshyn. According to him, Roshchina's parents received a notification from Russian authorities. "According to official information from the Russian authorities, this occurred during the transfer from Taganrog to Moscow," Yurchyshyn said. Later, the MP deleted his message.

Roshchina had been out of contact since August 2023 while preparing a report in the occupied territories of Ukraine. The Ministry of Defense of Russia later confirmed that she had been detained and was being held captive.

Roshchina had been reporting on the war in Ukraine since the first days of Russia’s invasion in February 2022, publishing her work in "Ukrainska Pravda," "Hromadske," and "Radio Liberty." In 2022, she was awarded the "Courage in Journalism" prize by the International Women’s Media Foundation (IWMF).
