Femen activists damaged the “Broken Chair” monument near the UN building in Geneva, criticizing the organization’s inaction
As reported by Reuters, topless members of the feminist movement Femen attacked the wooden “Broken Chair“ sculpture near the United Nations headquarters in Geneva with a chainsaw and saw. The activists shouted slogans such as “Don’t let Russia into the UN” and “To hell with Russia.”
“The UN was created to ensure peace, but its inability to stop the aggressor only deepens the tragedy. Ukraine has become a victim of betrayal and military aggression, and the world cannot hide behind monuments while remaining indifferent as we are destroyed“, – Femen stated.
Geneva police confirmed that four participants were detained for questioning following the protest.
The “Broken Chair“ sculpture was originally created to raise awareness about the impact of landmines on civilians in conflict zones.
