I get the advantage and at 1st I never thought they were separate/merged accounts but the more I tried to change servers the more it kept saying I needed another one and thats when I was like WTF

So to change servers I have to make an entirely new account in order to switch over? As in with a completely separate email and username WTH that's crazy.
No way will all populations od people (using academic twitter) get on board with that.
Seems like ride the elon wave until he loses interest and passes it on to a long term owner seems more practical for most people. Not speaking for me but in the broader user base and long term outlook.
I dont think this will be sustainable for people to engage with a wider audience at this rate.
This will inevitably be problematic for creating the level of connections that twitter provides.
