I actually wonder about that in a lot of English nouns, such as mathematics (vs arithmetic, geometry), or semantics, or hermeneutics. Or physics (in GER: Physik) vs music, for instance. Or how abt sports? (gymnastics vs football).
In GER, btw, it's Dynamik, i.e. clearly singular. Have a good night from here, John (this is perhaps my last post on this platform).

I've put this account to rest. I find the platform too complicated & can't get used to the jargon either ('toots,' really?).
I need a social media site only for a news flow. And unless all journos have migrated here, I'll stay on Twitter.

Yep, I've got the 'federated system' thing, but thought that mastodon is the platform on which it's played (as the federal entity, as it were; or like a federal govt). So, if I want to use mastodon, I need an extra account there? That's not very comfortable...

Yes, but isn't #mastodon the main site (1st pic)? I can't log in there w/ my qoto name & password (as the Guardian piece describes, too). I can only use qoto (2nd pic). But there's no way getting from there to Mastodon, it seems...

@johnmdudley Yups, so far, tho, I can't log in to this black site https://mastodon.social/explore, but only via the email they've sent me. Tried to reset the password, but no resp email yet.
Are these two different sites? And how do you post from Twitter, manually or is there a bot for that? Anita Leirfall seems to have a bot: @anitaleirfall.
