I'm a polymath, in a bad way. There are a lot of things I know and some things I'm decent at, but there is nothing I'm obsessed with and nothing I could say I'm a specialist in, and this upsets me. Because choosing something to focus long-term on becomes a pain in the ass, and staying focused is even harder.
@academicalnerd polymaths were great in an age without the internet. Now in the era of hyper connectivity, where an expert is a just a click of a button away, it seems that polymaths are outdated. Though have come to realize that polymaths become communicators and/or bridge the gap of various fields. Thus breaking the filter bubble and introducing novel ideas to the field.
