Open source software, including fediverse software, is truly the most janky ass shit I've ever had the misfortune of using.
When I mute a user, I still see them in my notifications when I don't want to. But when I mute a thread it vanishes completely and there's no way of getting it back. How does this make sense?

@Hyolobrika While i generally agree with you and also agree that the described behavior makes little sense, i wonder if we tolerate similar jankiness from non-oss software because it is often unavoidable.

@admitsWrongIfProven I guess I don't really know because I rarely use proprietary software.

@Hyolobrika ATMs, your rail services website, gouvernment websites, any vending machine complex enough to run software instead of just a few buttons... there's software in a lot of stuff, and very little of it open source, i think.
