Hot take: stuff behind capchas is not part of the internet.
@rootcompute Well, "not part of the internet" is usually reserved for proprietary stuff, like "use this app or no entry".
My comparison is flaky, i admit, but i would construct it around a company gatekeeping beyond the "this is our website" part. Like google letting you through their capchas when they have enough data on you, not by solving them. (another inaccurracy, since i said "capchas" in general).
I'd call it a walled garden. Just that this one is not one piece, but a cross section. A marbled garden?
@kalfatermann Never heard of that, what is it?
@admitsWrongIfProven Would you call it... the outernet?
