“Cowardly billionaires at the Wash Post, LA Times have revealed how dictatorship can thrive, in the cynicism that the media and our other institutions can no longer be trusted
Rule No. 1 of fighting fascism — do not obey in advance — crumbles as major newspapers kill endorsements to appease #Trump.
Let's join with the heroes who refuse to obey in advance.”

“Simply do not break a glass, and it will last a thousand years. Smash it, and it will not last an instant. Democracy is like that: fragile, but only if you shatter it.”
“Trust is like that, too, as newspapers know.”
It has fallen to me, the humor columnist, to endorse Harris for president

#Trump is grooming his followers to commit #violence. He is grooming them to overturn the #2024Election if/when he loses.
#Grooming isn't just for pedophiles.
Adults can be groomed to accept unacceptable actions as well. And Trump has a long history of manipulating those who interact with him into #corruption, and on #Jan6, into violence.
Why can't the GOP see how they are being groomed?
Why isn't more of the #media calling this out?
So, thanks Jeff Bezos, now we see it all very clearly if we didn't see it before...
This election is The Billionaires vs. The People
And the billionaires are trying to hoodwink, lie, bride, cheat and steal enough votes to get over the line, and then end democracy for good. Screw them. We are not giving them our country.
"This is a rather monstrous abdication of responsibility in the face of the very real fascist threat that looms over us all—especially those of us who aren’t billionaires. It is yet another stark and troubling instance of the failures of our corporate media to do its job."

The warning bell keeps clanging. Many of us are bored at hearing the repeated clangs.
This underscores a central revelation of this election: given the chance to choose fascism, eyes wide open, a significant proportion of Americans say, "Bring it on."
So he talks about Hitler with admiration? So what? What's a little infatuation with Hitler, after all?
We Americans are having to face some ugly truth about ourselves as this election nears.
LA Times owner seems to be in league with Trump, vetoing a Harris endorsement and then letting the campaign use standard-issue lies to smear the paper for something it didn't do.
The editorial page editor quit in protest and she deserves our respect.
She has more courage than the vast majority of our political press corps, which still normalizes Trump and will be culpable if he -- and then Vance -- become America's fascist rulers.
Via Tom Nichols:
They *like* that he's awful. This is the part that many other Americans can't grasp. The MAGA folks support #Trump *because* he's horrible, not in spite of it....
Elie Mystal:
Yup. I do not understand how nine years into this people still don’t get that Trump’s vileness is the thing that attracts the collection of racists and misogynists who have flocked to his banner.
The awful people feel Trump VALIDATES their awfulness.
Dear @pluralistic: You’re probably sick of hearing about it many times over, but when you leave this earth, the word “enshittification” will survive you by 100 millenniums, or one apocalypse, whichever comes first. Thank you for your service.
