I can't see this replacing Twitter – but as a parallel community for tweeters who wanted academic discussion and shrank from toxicity, this thing tracks. The late 2000s Web2 aesthetic is fantastic at least.

Someone said "politicians and celebrities will never bother with this, it'll be only scientists and writers and folks like that move to fedi" - as if that was a diss. That sounds great to me!
Let the drama and gossip remain on the birdsite, and let the #Fediverse be the place for thoughtful and curious conversation.
