these landlords are out of their little leech minds

I'm looking through an apartment listing in charlotte and it's one of those that not only has an egregious $300 pet deposit, but $20 a month pet "rent" as well. But they specify cats and dogs, and underneath list separately... Fish Deposit. And. Fish RENT!

FISH RENT

$300 for the right to own a fish!

$20 a month in FISH RENT!!!! WHAT FISH YOU KNOW PAYS RENT????

FISH! RENT!

@hammerhead Based on my current experience that seems pretty cheap. I mean not for the fish, but I am $12,000 in cleaning and repairs from a tenant's dogs. 5 doors destroyed including the solid oak front door. 8 screens including both sliding doors with frames destroyed and needing to be replaced. 500 board feet of base boards chewed and urine soaked. tile floors required $1000 in steam cleaning to remove pet stains and odor. The entire set of lower cupboard doors in the kitchen needed to be replaced. The most I can do is take their $1500 deposit. Given this experience I think an extra deposit and a few extra buck a month is not unreasonable.
