yes, it would be a bit disingenuous to bring in someone from out of state to award the Senate seat to them. I would think there would be some pushback on that in the press there in California, regardless of her attributes. But, as a Texan, I could be wrong about California tendencies. I mean, this could be a move by Newsom to position himself as a Presidential candidate in 2028, who knows. I would think Barbara Lee would've been a proper choice, IF he wanted a black woman. Hmmm.

@BillMcGuire @Hey_Beth she is a lobbies for a California union who works in DC and lives in a Maryland suburb. I'm interested that there isn't more pushback about appointing a lobbiest. Tempest in a teapot either way.

@antares @BillMcGuire @Hey_Beth A lobbyist for a union is completely different from a corporate lobbyist. It's the difference between fighting for workers, vs. fighting regulations that keep companies from maximizing profit.
