I think a lot about all the people sick or dead from covid complications whose families and docs will never say that

The first few weeks of the pandemic were my favorite few weeks of the pandemic because at least everyone was working together to prevent a new illness with unknown impacts

@Kathmandu @seachanger I don't know if you remember, but it was not until the end of April that the CDC started talking about mask - cloth ones back then. The first few weeks of the pandemic the messaging was that masks would not be effective and everyone who could should stay home.

@antares @Kathmandu That’s right! I did forget that. I remember seeing an article that Eastern Europeans somewhere were starting to use them and being like welp can’t hurt let’s go

I do remember, and I'm still mad at the CDC about that.
This poster was from later, I think at least August.
Yes, the Czech Republic did a massive sew-and-share group project and got everyone masked with cloth in about ten days. It drove their new-case rates down to nearly nothing.

I see why the 'wear-a-mask' poster was out of phase with your remark about the early weeks.
I saved some posters from the initial stay-at-home days too.

@antares @seachanger
Because we were all in it together, and the Art People contributed art.

People shared sourdough starter for making bread, so you could go longer between grocery runs.

And let us not forget the priests with squirt guns, for socially-distanced baptisms.
