In mid 2020 our street was turned into an LTN (low-traffic neighbourhood) and it was night and day. Before, we had cars essentially stationary with engines idling for hours during the afternoon rush hour. The acrid smoke permeated everything inside the house, and we worried for our health. After, felt like heaven: no cars, no smoke, no noise.

The only time conditions were even better was when Extinction Rebellion closed a nearby major junction, blocking through traffic, and our area of the town became momentarily even more pleasant: birds could be heard singing, and many more people walked and cycled. Afterwards we wished the change was permanent.

@albertcardona @simonvarwell Agreed. I never realized how much the constant traffic noise was effecting me until I moved out of the city and it was not there.
