Maybe we shouldn't see this growing community here at #mastodon (solely) as a direct result of #musk buying #twitter and more as a chance to get connections, exchange and social media back into the hands of all people and away from #coorporations
@szescstopni yes, for sure. And I think it’s almost a good thing it happened. We as humans have the tendency to only act if it is really necessary (history teaches this over and over).
@szescstopni @apinae
It is a long way. A lot has to change to be the same.
@likask @szescstopni I'm not sure whether it should be the same. #mastodons structure is distinctively different, and I think that is what makes it a better option. #transformation takes time. Let’s hope people are willing and able to adapt and #change
In fact, I was thinking about this citation, “Everything must change for everything to remain the same” from “The Leopard”.
In that book, Sicilians adapt to change. But incoming twiterians (Sicilians) never really change. That employ that this transformation in essence will not renew anything.
@likask @szescstopni You make a good point. My hope is, that the whole structure itself will bring people (and I know it won’t ever be everyone) to see the value in owning parts of the internet and not only be end users but participants
@apinae The Meltdown helped – I tried to join a year or two ago but couldn't find resources to get me through. Now I'm a small element of a quickly moving herd and it's easy :)
