#Help wanted!
With some friends we are setting up a local informal environmentalist group, with the aim of pushing forward good practices, spread sustainability, ecological awareness, and this kind of #solarpunk. stuff.
So far we are planning of doing #permaculture , #food production, #composting workshops, #Seed library, #GuerrillaGardening, collective purchase from #RegenerativeAgriculture farms, but we'd like to have more on the todo list.
Help me get out of our echo chamber, and give me your ideas about more activities we could engage ourselves and the local communities in.
Thanks!
@xanbaldaio Hi, thanks for your words!
We have a little bit of forest left, nothing or very little native and the edges are so high that you don't have the interior forest ecology anymore.
Prevention of forest fires is not a priority in the context we are going to work... while we have some fires, they are mostly done on purpose.
I have many friends living a bit further south, where is wilder, but unless you have a critical mass of people I don't think you can do much fires, at least here.
Do you have any project ongoing in Galicia I can take inspiration from? =)

Eucaliptus is a plague in the Iberian peninsula, as I have seen, I was in Portugal last year and I witnessed some devastated areas... and administrations are a plague almost everywhere =D
I'll give a nice read to the links you give me, thank you for taking the time!
@arteteco
It was terrible... and the probabilities of new forest fires are high.
Many thanks to you and your local network. Big hugue 🤗
@arteteco
We are facing a complex problem. The rural environment has been depopulated and traditional sustainable practices have given way to intensive exploitation.
On the other hand, administrations supports polluting industries such as cellulose, open-pit mines... and native forest is disappearing as a result of the massive planting of eucalyptus, acacia..
Local and community projects have been born, as well as local platforms in defense of the environment. links in next toot ⤵
