Unit-log-symmetric models: Characterization, statistical properties and application to internet access dataWe present the unit-log-symmetric model which is based on the bivariate
log-symmetric distribution. It is a flexible family of distributions over the
interval $(0, 1)$. We study mathematical properties like stochastic
representations, symmetry, modality, moments, quantile function, entropy and
maximum likelihood estimators, giving special attention to the specific cases
of the unit log-normal, the unit-log-Student-$t$ and the unit-log-Laplace
distributions. Simulation results and practical application are also presented.
