The full video of 's reception of is a lesson of our times. It was a public humiliation conceived from the beginning to the end.

The first sign of this was Zelensky's discomfort at not having the opportunity to also answer the questions. The second was the question about why Zelensky didn't wear a suit. The terms used were the exact same ones used later, when Zelensky was acused to not be respectful in the Oval Office.

Then came James 's speech. Zelensky's point was that doesn't respect agreements, but Vance was strangely excessive and he broke the mood and started accusing Zelensky, about him not respecting the US, not thanking them for their help and not having soldiers on the front lines.

Zelensky tried to defend himself and Trump then came with everything he had already prepared: Zelensky "doesn't hold the cards" and "needs to sign the agreement".

The humiliation was sealed with Zelensky being forced to remain silent.

It felt more like the end of the than the end of .

@askesis To humiliate someone is "to make [them] feel ashamed and foolish by injuring their dignity and self-respect, especially publicly."

Trump and Vance tried to humiliate Zelenskyy, but I do not think he felt ashamed or foolish. I think he was baffled, insulted, and angry.

By describing Zelenskyy as "humiliated" and this event as a "humiliation" we are inadvertently playing into the administration's hands. This was an "insult." An "attempted humiliation." An embarrassment for the US.

@askesis I'm not meaning to attack you, by the way! I appreciate what you're doing and what you're saying. It's just that this regime has a knack for forcing us to see things from their perspective and to frame things using their language. We need to resist that, especially since legacy media tends to go along with them.

@bodhipaksa thank you my friend for your comment and your fine observation on the apropriated terms to use. Indeed, there is a war being made on the language and we have to ake care on this.
