Just trying to wrap my head around this new platform.
Mastodon is the platform.
qoto is one of the many instances that are there of mastodon.
Correct ? Toople ??
Can we see toots from multiple instances ?
My common sense says not but I think we can probably opt in to multiple instances that we are interested in.
@at In the federated timeline but that's uh, spamy.
You can search for hashtags though. There is discussion on github about multi-instancing, proof of concept exists.
@commandelicious
I see. Do you know the tech stack that is used to implement mastodon ?
@at No. I am not a software guy :/
@commandelicious
Ok :-)
@commandelicious
Where you from ? Btw
@at Germany, the north-west part, and it's bedtime :D
@commandelicious
Oh ok :-)
Good night then. You are already late to bed I suppose.
@at Mastodon is the base software. QOTO is an instance of mastodon that I personally heavily modified the code on. The Fediverse is the whole network of people you see in the Federated timeline and includes any server that complies with one of a few standards (ActivityPub, OStatus, etc). The Fediverse consists of many more servers other than just mastodon.
@at Yes. Mastodon has no central server therefor instances are the servers which all have moderation.
What -exactly- federated means I don't know but it means about "connected".
